How to Create the Perfect Fit with a My Little Gem Pocket Nappy
Creating the perfect fit
Fitting Guide
How do you know what is the right fit?
Every child is different. That's why we added 4 rows of snaps at the bottom for easy leg adjustments and 28 waist snaps for a versatile waist adjustment. But how do you know which snaps to use and how to create this perfect fit?
You will know you got the right setting for your child if the diaper sits not too loose so it doesn't show any gaps around the legs and waist and sits comfortable on your baby's skin. A few minimal pressure marks is normal. But if your baby's skin has severe red pressure marks you will know the diaper setting was definitely too tight. To avoid creating a fit that is too tight check if you can easily fit a finger between the diaper and your baby's skin.
After putting on the diaper the fit should look comfortable yet sturdy so no moisture can travel outside the nappy. With the amount of snaps our pocket nappies have you can rest assured you will always find the perfect fit. It just takes a little practice.
Below you find a fitting guide for each age group. Please note that this is a guide and not a rulebook. Every child is different and there is no one size fits all. Just play around with the waist snaps until you the fit looks similar to our image.
Newborn fit
To create this newborn setting simply connect the lowest leg row of snaps with the top row of snaps. This is the smallest leg setting. Take two fingers and place them inside the gap created between the leg row of snaps. Push the excess fabric f up. You can tuck away this excess fabric inside the tummy flap to create comfort for your newborn's belly. With the front of the nappy facing you take the right hip wing and fasten it with the 4 snaps. Then take the left hip wing and cross it over on top of the right hip wing. Only fasten the 2 snaps closest to your left. If your newborn needs more space you can use the two snaps on the right instead.
1 to 3 months fit
Similar to the newborn fit – snap the lowest leg row to the highest leg row. Take two fingers and place them inside the gap created between the leg row of snaps. Push the excess fabric f up. You can tuck away this excess fabric inside the tummy flap to create comfort for your baby's belly. Snap both hip wings so both wings meet in the middle. Attach all 8 snaps so the diaper sits comfortable but not too loose on the baby. Adjust the waist snaps according to your baby's needs.
6 to 12 months fit
Attach the second lowest row of leg snaps to the highest row of leg snaps to create the setting as shown in the picture. Take two fingers and place them inside the gap that's created between the rows and push the fabric up to tuck away any access out of sight. Then take each hip wing and snap it accordingly to create a comfortable yet solid fit for your baby so it can easily move it's legs and body freely.
12 - 24 months fit
Attach the second top row of leg snaps to the highest row of leg snaps to create the setting as shown in the picture. Take two fingers and place them inside the gap that's created between the rows and push the fabric up to tuck away any access out of sight creating a nice fold. Then take each hip wing and snap it accordingly to create a comfortable yet solid fit for your baby so it can easily move it's legs and body freely.
Toddler Fit
Our diapers are designed to fit children over 21 kg. The setting as shown in the image is the maximum setting available for the waist and legs. To create maximum leg space simply un-snap any leg rows. To create the maximum space for the waist take each hip wing and snap the inner snaps to the farthest snap first followed by the outer snaps attached to the diaper.
